Where a people prays, there is the church; and where the church is; there is never loneliness.

It is much easier for me to imagine a praying murderer, a praying prostitute, than a vain person praying. Nothing is so at odds with prayer as vanity.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, 1928

  1. Romans 8.28 is a verse that I quote a lot. I use it in my own life, as I have faced a long, hard divorce which has left my family in ruins. My children are devastated by the whole thing. I use Romans 8.28 to encourage them and remind them that God is going to see them through this situation and they will be closer to Him and more usable by Him as a result. It doesn’t mean that the divorce itself is good. It just means that God is using it for His good. I’m glad the worst of it are behind us. God still dries tears and encourages us all. For this, I am thankful. God causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Wow. I’m so thankful.
